What obd connection profile to use?

Featured Replies

Just invested in a cheap Amazon obd module and tried using car scanner app on iOS. It gives you a whole host of options for connection profile as per the picture, plus more.

My car is a 2016 SE L Executive with the 2.0tdi 190PS engine and DSG.

The basic obd profile at the top seems to bring up the code I was expecting to see (one glow plug out currently) but just wanted to make sure I was getting the most out of it possible.

Thanks

Check your engine code which I think is on your V5 document section D.2

The 190PS engine should be either CUNA, CUDN or CUVC which would be the 6th option down:

“MQB, PQ26: Diesel DPF var.1”

The top choice for OBDII standard will give you the standard fault codes required by the legislation but will miss some codes which are manufacturer specific to your car.

You should still get a code but perhaps won't get a description of the fault & will miss other items from live data & ECU information like coding.

As you suggest, selecting the correct engine will give you access to more information...
