Headlamp washers

Featured Replies

Has anyone else noticed the headlamp washers activate with only the sidelights on or is it just mine?

My old Octavia used to activate the washers with the main headlamps on and I am sure the manual for the new one says the same as in the washers should only work when the dipped or main beam is on.

I usually drive with my sidelights on and it's caning my washer fluid!

Mine work even with the lights off.

They do not work every time you use the front screen washers. They operate the first time on a journey and then every so many, I don't know how many, times durng the remainder of the journey.

I think its every 5 times the window washers are activated. My lights are on when the car is turned on ie light switch turned to off, I could be wrong but reakon that the headlamp washers won't work unless the light switch is turned to the main beams position on mine (I haven't tried it on the side lights position).

IIRC when you exceed 40mph you shouldn't drive on sidelights anway...

I never turn my sidelights on so I wouldn't know. I let light assist do it all. What I do know is that the headlight washers only work when the headlights are on. They only work a couple of times in a row and then you have to wait a while before they will work again.

The manual says they should only come on with the main lights only, not the sides.

Whats the point of washing the lights if they aren't on? The MkI Octavia's washers only work with the mains on after a long windscreen wash.

With a MkII its should be after the first pull of the washer stalk then every 5th time as stated before.

Is it a simple VAG-COM fix I wonder.

Whats the deal with 40mph and sidelights?
