Has my car been updated?

Featured Replies

Hi folks, just got my car back after three days at the dealership getting what they called a recall software update, they had difficulty with it crashing repeatedly which is why it took so long.

However, I’m not 100% sure if they got the update done, so I’m hoping you guys can confirm if I have the latest software.

My car is a 2024 Facelift 1.5 TSI First Edition, the system info on the infotainment is

Hardware H10

Software 2630

Display unit/control panel hardware H23

Display unit/control panel software 266

Navigation database 25.12

Radio database —

Media codec 3.1.4

I feel very annoyed with myself as I didn’t make a note what it was when I took the car in.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Or maybe one of you knows what new features came with the new software?

Then I could check if I have them.

Thanks.

Skoda don't publish release notes so there's no official way of knowing what new features and bug fixes are included in any release.

I had the update done in October and have the same levels as your screen except I've got a radio database at 1.31.52. The update was definitely applied, the most noticeable differences being that the auto rewind of the back shelf now works. The other issue was that it used to fail to start every so often - at the risk of chancing my luck, I should say I haven't encountered that problem since the update.

I believe the information you give relates to the infotainment and navigation only, nothing to do with the actual software the car is running on which sounds like your car needed, although you give no indication what the update was for.

Infotainment updates are usually done OTA, vehicle operating updates need to be done at a dealer (unless you have a fully electric Skoda, in which case many vehicle operating updates can be done OTA).

Did you receive any paperwork, or check your car data online via the digital certificate.

@cnc thank you, the service reception staff didn’t know anything about the update - I should have insisted they find out! My dealer has multiple brands and the staff don’t know the cars like those of a Skoda only dealer.

I didn’t think to check the digital certificate. Just checked and it shows an “authorised non-warranty repair” saying it was a MIB software update. Do you know what that means please?

@chrisclin thank you, that’s reassuring.

The car was recalled by the dealer and kept for 2 days while they updated it.

You will see the software has gone from 2460 to 2630. That's what I understand to be the car's operating system and the dealer told me it had to be done by them as it often failed OTA. In fact it crashed twice when they were doing it.

Apologies for the randomness of this reply. It appears VAG are even worse at implementing fully tested Apps than they are at their vehicle software.20251017_114652.jpg

MIB (Modularer Infotainment Baukasten) is for the infotainment system only which includes the navigation.

This is not the car ECU operating system, this is for the radio/navigation system to add/enhance features, fix bugs in earlier system versions etc.

You can see it shows the device part number now has a 'B' at the end, so a hardware change appears to have taken place, so not just software update. If you Google the part number it may give further information on the new vs old part numbers.

@chrisclin my device part number is now 57H035816B the same as yours, I don’t know what it was before the update.

I did a quick google search which says the “B” is an updated system but nothing specific to say if it’s software or hardware related.

Well blow me down. I never managed to download the digital certificate before.

Not that it helps a lot.

What does

LABOR OPERATIONS 90EE-S-Update to PV4: 90EE 90EE

mean? I have tried asking the dealer but they just fob me off with "it fixes some issues".

The device part number would only change if you had the actual hardware replaced it doesn’t change with software updates. So the B at the end just means it is the second generation of the actual InfoTainment unit they fit in the car. (In cars of old it’s like the radio head unit you used to put your CDs in etc…. So just imagine they change a couple of bits of the electronics in it so call it a version B…. Version C etc etc…… even though it still looks the same externally.)

An MIB update just means you’ve had the software on the touchscreen updated nothing to do with any other parts of the car.

In fairness to the dealer they probably don't know exactly what the update included, other than the Skoda system told them it needed doing, so a new unit was fitted (hence the 'B') and they followed the Skoda instructions to carry out the work required.

Who said anything about the whole unit being replaced with a version B unit? There's nothing to say it wasn't a version B unit since new seeing as others have already said theirs are version B units.

One of the pictures above shows it was originally without the 'B' (previous version), the following picture shows with a 'B'.

Sorry I thought you were responding to the OP not the person you were. 🤪
