Any idea what this is?

Featured Replies

Hi. It was below freezing when I was out yesterday and stopped at the shop and saw this melted circle on the rear pillar of my Superb iV.

I'm curious to understand what caused it. Anybody any ideas?

Thanks.

Is it a new car? mine is and had exactly the same on the windscreen. Mine was where some sort of sales / advertising sticker had been. Still shows up even after washing car.

I’ve a new Superb. When out this morning I’ didn’t see anything resembling that. I had looked as it some large flying **** bird deposited a considerable amount of runny white crap all over my rear off side door when I stopped off for a cuppa at my girls place 🤨

Isn't there a loudspeaker there or any control unit that could warm the bodywork a bit in this area and thus making the ice melt?

It's a 2021 model. I think the marks on the window you refer to are caused by the suckers they use to hold it when they are putting it in place.

No loudspeaker, and it was only on the one side. Otherwise I'm not sure what is there. I was hoping somebody on here would know.

Another Idea, I'm thinking to: the inner boot light. As far as I remember, it's more or less located in this area and if it has halogen bulb, it may warm just enough to make the ice melt. I had dual dashcams on my ex Superb Estate Mk3 and when in parking mode by frosty conditions, I had a a small unfrosted disc on the windshield, close to the inner view mirror attachement point. 😉

Not a bad shout. I had a look and the only comments I would make to that is.

  • There are lights on both side and this only occured on the drivers side.

  • The lights only work when the boot is open, and I only had the boot open for a short period that day.

I did charge the car overnight so I wonder if it had anything to do with that?
