Considering a used Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI Sportline MK4 Estate – looking for reliability & service advice

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m currently considering buying a used Skoda Octavia Mk4 2.0 TDI Sportline (2022) and I’d really appreciate some opinions from owners or people familiar with this model.

Car details:

  • Skoda Octavia Mk4

  • 2.0 TDI

  • Manual gearbox

  • Sportline trim

  • Year: 2022

  • Mileage: ~100,000 km

  • First owner

  • Bought and serviced through a VW/Škoda dealership

  • Full service history (according to the seller)

My main questions are:

  1. Reliability:
How reliable is the 2.0 TDI in the Mk4 Octavia, especially around this mileage? Any known weak points?

  2. Maintenance & servicing:

    • Are there any important services due around 100k km that I should make sure have been done or are coming up soon?

    • Anything specific to check on the manual gearbox, clutch, or dual-mass flywheel?

  3. Common problems:

    • Any recurring issues with electronics, infotainment, sensors, or software on the Mk4?

  4. Sportline-specific things:

    • Anything to be aware of with the Sport suspension, wheels, or brakes in terms of wear or comfort?

  5. General ownership experience:
Is there anything you wish you knew before buying one of these used?

For context, my driving would be mostly city, with a few highway trips per month. I’m already aware of DPF considerations, as I currently drive a VW Group diesel, so I’m mainly curious about overall reliability and upcoming services for this specific car.

Any advice, experiences, or things I should specifically check before buying would be very helpful. Thanks in advance! 👍
