Estate: Rear wiper jammed

Featured Replies

Question: Is this a known issue please and what is the likely cause? I.e. Is it probably the motor which needs replacing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

They tend to seize up with age and when dirt/moisture gets in. If you lucky it may be repairable but I have gone through 4 so far on 4 of my cars. I ended up replacing motor each time as the plastic cogs inside were past it. Check its actually getting power and its not a broken wire or fuse.

Many thanks, Alasdair for your input. I will check that. Preumably the tail-gate cover just unclips. Nigel

Cant remember but think there might be some screws in middle.

Thanks, Alasdair. Noted.

Have ordered a replacement motor.

On all of mine they became intermittent then just stopped working. Fairly easy swap over as long as you can get wiper off the old one. My sons mk1 fabia was seized on solid but a couple of days of wd40 and a gentle wobble plus a tiny bit of heat and a gentle pull it finally came off. I put a small smear of copper grease on the spindle when refitting again.

Thank you, Morph. Much appreciated.

I fixed my mechanism, removed water but it does not fit properly to glass. I think I have mechanism from COMBI version. Do you guys know proper OEM number for liftback version O2 FL 2011

Water from sprinkler pump is a killer. This is a poor design. If you want to sleep well do not connect hose to the new mechanism. Plug hose and leave disconnected.

This has become an ongoing saga because the replacement item had (It's been returned) a different screw hole alignment. Looking at the comments above maybe I should by a replacement and replace the guts.
