Heater not doing heater things

Featured Replies

Ok so as the title says I’m getting no heat on drivers side.

As far as I can tell all the flaps are moving and both pipes are hot on the heater matrix.

I had the silica bag removed and the system flushed a while ago.

I’ve put some coolant system cleaner through it but still getting nothing.

It’s a 2014 2L Diesel if that makes any difference.

It’s stumped my mechanic and there’s no codes coming up.

Any suggestions please?

Hello there. I think you need to confirm whether they are actually moving or not.

Can you try realign of your flap motors first?

To realign (recalibrate) the climatronic flap motors on a Skoda Octavia Mk3, turn the ignition on without starting the engine, then press and hold the AC button and the front-panel vent button simultaneously for about 3–5 seconds.

Lights will flash, and flap motors will move. If you hear any clicking or no noise then it's either the vertical or horizontal flap motors have stopped working (it's probably the horizontal motor that has failed....common problem)

Thanks for the reply mate.

Yeah I’ve already done the recalibration…… a few times. But still nothing. All moving well, I’ve looked with a torch as well.

I’m stumped.

You can see the motors move; can you see the physical flaps move?

Looking at some posts on here I think I might of missed the one behind the cabin filter so will need to check that one and get back to you.

I had similar 2016 mk3 tdi, it must have either been an air lock or matrix partially blocked, with water only flowing through one half, because after having a new main radiator fitted (after bottom hose connection broke) 4 years ago, its been fine ever since.

Never took silica bag out either, its still in there somewhere or has disolved, as i cannot see it.

I refer you to my comment on this post regarding the same issue.

I had this on my 2.0TDi and recently replaced the coolant tank, coolant and heater matrix.

How did that work in regard to the thermostat? surely when the car is nice an hot, the stat is open, feeding back coolant into the expansion tank, but the cold water/coolant will close the stat?

I had a fairly constant flow of coolant into the buckets, but I made sure the car was nice and hot to begin with, and I had also wedged a cardboard box onto the accelerator to keep the engine around 1500rpm as I had noticed the temperature dropping after a while of flushing

Ok thanks, makes sense as the engine block will still be very hot

Thinking back to it - it probably helped that I gave the coolant flush extra time to work as the engine was at around 80 rather than 90 degrees, so I waited for the engine to get to temp then started the timer using the recommended time on the bottle.
