Leaky doors

Featured Replies

My Karoq was registered the very end of 2018. It is a 1.6tdi dsg SEL. Recently in the downpours that there has been I'm getting drops off water coming through the door seals. The seals themselves seem quite soft, I can pot my finger between door and frame along the top. Has anyone had this happen? I am debating in my head of some brute force bending the window frames in a little, or putting stick on draught excluders on them, or replacing the seals completely. The 3rd option is likely the best, the other two seem like bodges, especially the stick on draught excluder. Any advice, thoughts or fixes gratefully received.

Davies.

Firstly is it all doors or just the one used most? Here are a couple of suggestions. 1) does the door need adjusting so it closes tighter to the seal? 2) The seals may have dried out and thus shrunk. This happens with Pan roof seals and Krytox liquid is applied to moisturise them. Just a thought don’t know if it’s valid. 3) new seals required- there are many companies selling seals so may not need to pay Skoda prices. You just need to identify the right cross-section as there are hundred of different seal forms. Seals Direct is a company I’ve used.
