Body Control Module BCM replacement and coding.

Featured Replies

Hello all. Old member here but haven't been active for a while for various reasons. I have a question though and would greatly appreciate some help.

My new (new to me at least) Superb 2021 iV estate has an issue where the interior lights don't work, the ambient lighting doesn't work and the dashboard and infotainment screens are all stuck at their lowest brightness settings. The error occurred after the 12v battery ran quite low and needed to be charged. The car was standing for a time and hasn't really been driven much. Everything else is fine and as far as I can see all the fuses are fine. Car starts and runs just fine with no error lights on the dash. I've not just asked this question here without doing any reading first and it seems it could well be an issue with the body control module (BCM) apparently. So my question is in two parts.

  1. Can the BCM be reset in any way? Bear in mind this is the iV hybrid version so I'm not certain if disconnecting the 12v battery deprives all control modules of power?

  2. If I source a replacement BCM and fit it myself, does it need to be recoded to the car? If so can this be done by a forum member with either VCDS or ODIS?

Would genuinely be grateful of some help here. Thanks in advance to anyone that offers some useful advice.
