Octavia 3 Front Brake Pad Plate Removal

Featured Replies

Hi,

Next to zero mechanical experience here and the brake plate thing is rattling mad. Is it possible to remove the wheel and then somehow remove the plate without further removing other items?

Don't care if it's destroyed in the process, I'm not booked into the garage for another couple of weeks and the rattling is wild.

Ta.

I believe it's suggested to cut the backplate to enable it being removed without disturbing the hub.

Thanks.

I've also seen it suggested to do the same when fitting a new brake shield.

Not had issues with either of our vehicles - but it seems to be a common failure for the shields to rot away around the mounting bolts.

A pair of tin snips will help 👍
