RDLs not working

Featured Replies

Soo, I have just gotten my hand on a Fabia MkII from 2014. Some things here and there that I want to change. However, the first thing is that I have noticed that my running daylights aren't working, and can't seem to figure it out.

I do have them in the bottom of the car, right beside the fog lights, but they aren't turning on.

Checked the fuses, not blown, checked the computer with VCDS, found them, cannot remember the byte right now, enabled them, no change.

After a while I found that there should be a switch at the fuses, don't have that!

Is it true that I may have the lights, but cannot use them as the switch isn't there??

The switch for DRL,s was deleted by 2014.

Well, that makes sense why it isn't physically there, even though the slot is there. Also looks to make sense why VCDS can see monitor that RDL is "not active" rather than "not installed" (the mid row)IMG_1730.jpeg

@Evolution13

You have any more guesses? Still looking for the solution, and enabling DRL in the BCM in byte 23 bit 6, just error 31

Well, found out why now.
Seems the relay 484 is missing, together with the wiring... So I'll either have to find a wiring diagram, find the wires, install relay 484 or get it into a service workshop and pay for it.

Anyone got a wiring diagram for the DRL in Fabia II 5J ?

The first is for the DRL switch

the second one is for the DRL bulb

the third is for the steering angle sender

If you want you can add the cornering function by making two differrent connections on the bcm (my fabia was already equipped whit DRL and switch so I've "retrofitted" the cornering function). like here: Corner funkcia (vozidlá od 2010-2015) – wirer.sk from @wirer

See now we are talking.
But how does that match up with the comment from @Evolution13 about the switch to be removed from my model year? I don't understand why it should be that, just to still be installed if wanted to use

it's maybe based on the conutry if i remeber correctly for the UK market was mandatory to have the DRL always on while the ignitoin was on and headlight off, but I could be wrong because I'm from Italy and I've read something about that here on Briskoda time ago

Not mandatory in the UK to have DRL,s fitted as standard at the factory with Mk2 Fabia, or even Mk3 because there was no New Type Approval from the Regulation coming in February 2011. They do not need to be on with the ignition. PS, handy if posts / questions on the vehicles say which country they are in. Even just so that members might know if left or right hand drive.
