09 octavia

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had a mk3 octavia 2.0Tdi and loved it but with the dpf issues coming from not doing the miles anymore i sold it. Brought a mazda cx-30 (very much a love hate relationship with it) but now im thinking of going back to an occy but might try the mk2 estate, i see a few L&K ones and elegance ones both with the 1.8 DSG.

My question is - what do i look for? Whats a common issue? Whats a big red flag?

Any advice is appreciated.

Didn’t the 1.8 have oil consumption issues ?

I have heard this but dont know much else about it?

Have had two mk2 a 58plate and a 12plate. Both diesel but the earlier one is the 1.9tdi pd so no dpf. Havent had much trouble with either apart from dash/cluster problems on the earlier one. Main problem I am finding on both is corosion on front wings, around rear numberplate on both and sills on the earlier one plus advisory on subframes etc. They both have around 120k. Its probably down to where they came from before I got them. One is local to Inverness and the other I think is aberdeen so both high salt usage areas. Sons fabia is an 06 and its spotless but came from devon direction. Check the previous MOT for advisories etc.
