01/2017 VRS estate tdi rear shocks

Featured Replies

Hi knowledgeable people,

I want to replace the extremely crusty rear shocks on my octy estate but struggling to find anyone who recognises the OEM code: 5Q0 512 011 MP. Seen plenty of 513 versions and VW listed units with different final letters. Its a CUNA 184 estate, 2wd.

Please can anyone advise what replacement model I need and where best to buy? I was assuming Bilstein/Monroe and usually use GSF or AutoDoc.

Thank you

Christian

That part number ending 011 isn't the shock part number, I suspect.

It'll be a sub-part number or some such.

I'll message you to request VIN, so I csn look up correct number for you.

When searching for aftermarket rear shock absorbers, it's better to search for the earlier 5Q0513029KF OEM part number rather than the later 5Q0513029RR OEM part number...because the listings for most aftermarket rear shock absorbers that might be suitable haven't been updated to the later OEM part number.

Bear in mind, that most aftermarket rear shock absorbers are sold to replace a huge range of OEM part numbers...so may not be a close match to the original Skoda parts. For example, KYB 3448024 is sold to replace rear shock absorbers with lowered ride height, standard ride height, and increased ride height, ie. a one size fits all approach.

Thanks for that. I found plenty of options for the KF code. Waited for max AutoDOC discount and bought a pair of Meyle shocks... I've had success with that brand before and as far as I can find, they're rated as OEM quality. We'll see..

Cheers

Let us know what you think of the Meyle shockers 👍
