2020 Sportline - Cockpit Dipped beam indication

Featured Replies

Hi,

'Upgraded' from a 2014 Superb mk2, which I loved but it fell apart. In this newer model, I can't get any indication that the dipped beam is on, apart from the physical position of the lighting switch. I usually run using 'Auto' lighting, and the sat nav changes to dark mode when the headlights are on - but I wonder if the little headlight symbol on the lighting switch should go green when that happens, as the sidelights do? And is there supposed to be anything on the dash?

I have tried a replacement switch (the easiest thing to do) with no difference in behaviour. My VAG-COM is very old - not sure how useful it would be on this car.

Any info on what the 'correct' behaviour should be would be gratefully received...

Thanks

John

Pretty sure there isn’t an indicator on its own.

When you put auto full-beam on, the indicator is blue, but when you’re in a slow or built-up well lit area that’s a white full-beam indicator. I think that’s the closest you get.

Thanks Trav, that's really helpful. Nothing worse than chasing a fault that isn't one!

The dashboard icon for headlights on has gradually disappeared on all Skoda model now. The only indication that headlights are on are the infotainment changing to dark mode and the what I would sidelight indicator under the auto symbol on the switch turns green when the headlights are on.

Thanks Kenny,

That's exactly what mine is doing, so I won't worry about it.

Just as an aside, I am struggling to understand the logic of Skoda engineers, where the fog light symbols go orange when the fog lights are on, the side light symbols go green but the headlight indicators don't change. That's what sent me down the rabbit hole of investigating if the "bulb" had blown. I don't normally drive with the infotainment on (happy with the company of Mrs P next to me) so I'll just continue to trust that the car is doing it's thing!

Thanks again for the reassurance.

Regards

John
