ABS leaking oil

Featured Replies

I’ve got oil leaking from the ABS unit on my Octavia 1.4 TSi. Definitely coming from the unit itself and not the pipework or connections.

In order to get a replacement unit, I’ve been advised I might be able to get a recon unit that is plug-in and play - and will avoid the need for coding it - as long as the part numbers are identical.

My question is which part number needs to match, to allow me to avoid coding the unit. The photo attached shows the label on the pump section.

Thanks

Thanks, that’s what I’d thought - just wasn’t sure if that was the pump part or the whole unit. Do you think if I source a match its likely to just plug in and work without having to get it re coded?

Why not just copy the coding off your current unit before you disconnect it. Then you can recode as was ?

You'd have the current coding on any VCDS scan if you have one saved.

Not sure; I had two new ABS pumps in the past two years. The first failed due to age (being original, 19 years old) and its replacement was badly threaded in (such that the aluminium was damaged and leaked brake fluid) but I got both "new" pumps second-hand from eBay (about £100) and they went in fine (well, bar the bad threading by a garage I now do not use!).

Thanks, I don’t have any means to coding it unfortunately - I’ve only got a basic scanner. I’m trying to avoid having to pay to get read, then re coded.

Is there no-one on the Briskoda VCDS map local that can help you ?

I'm in NE London for example and I would.
