'14 Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG breaks

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Looking do a full break job (front&back discs and pads) on my octavia but struggling to figure out what size replacements i need to order. I was able to get the rear breaks PR code of the boot sticker (1KD) but no such luck for the front. Is there any way to figure out what size breaks i have without taking the wheels off? All i know is that my front calipers are TRW. Is there any way to get the PR code for the front breaks using the VIN? Any help would be much appreciated.

Not sure re PR codes from vin. Have tried a few places online and no luck. Your lucky you have one code. I have three skodas and the brake codes are all missing including a Seat. You could try https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs and put in the VIN it might narrow it down for you. As far as I know there are two sizes of discs for front if you have TRW calipers. 288mm or 312mm. The other option fitted is Kelsey hayes calipers which have 276mm. Reckon it might be safer measuring. You would only have to take one wheel off.

When I read "1.4 TSI DSG breaks" I thought "that's unusual for a 1.4TSI to break it's DSG?"

Then I read the post and realised that OP is referring to "brakes" not about breaking the DSG!!!

For peace of mind i ended up taking the wheel and measuring the disc - ended up being 288.
Now to order the parts - planning on using the EBC Premium discs and greenstuff pads combo. Anybody has experience with these? After some discount codes can get these for just under £300 (front+rear discs and pads) delivered.

I used Apec blue discs and pads on my octavia mk2 as its a fair age. Been on for about a year and seem very good. The whole lot was just over £100 from parts in motion. They also do Apec Black which are supposedly high performance/luxury car at a bit more and Apec Red which are mid range similar to oem. Being using Apec for a while with no problems.

Ehhh… I would stick to OE. I haven’t heard great things about the Greenstuff pads (but then again, have no personal experience with it). That being said, it seems like a reasonable price, and I doubt they’ll be getting very hard use.
