Tidy condition, inside and out.  Noteworthy marks:

• Dent in n/s/r door below the moulding.

• Dent in tailgate.

• Paint on the bonnet is not the best but is presentable.

• Some cosmetic stone-chip rust on the sills but they are not rotten.

• Some age related wear on driver’s seat bolster.

• Headlining sagging a bit in the rear luggage area.

However, the car has recently broken down – it suddenly developed a misfire on the motorway.  I drove it home OK, above 40mph it was not too bad but at low speed it was juddery, smoky and unhappy.  There were no lights on the dash. 

On investigation there is hardly any compression on one cylinder.  I removed the intake manifold and found it has eaten at least one of the intake swirl flaps.  Several are missing but only one has departed recently from what I can see.

I think with all the recent parts and general condition this car is worth fixing but I don’t have the time or inclination.  I suspect there is a bent valve in there somewhere so the head will need to come off.

Prior to breakdown, the car drove quietly and drove very well.  The seats are some of the most comfortable I have ever sat on.  Everything works, no lights on the dash, cruise control etc. The brakes, suspension, gearbox and clutch all in good order.  It has some good parts, the false floor in the loadspace is really handy, the retractable luggage space cover still works fine and there are two sets of genuine Skoda floor mats in perfect condition (one set rubber and one set in fabric with VRS logo).  There are a pair of nearly new Avon tyres on the front too, put on recently in preparation for the MoT (which has now just expired).

There is a lot of car here for someone, but I just need it gone.

The car is completely standard and has been well maintained in the 4 years we have had it. It has (within the last couple of years) had:

• Replacement DPF.

• All new rear suspension arms and bushes.

• New rear springs.

• New rear wheel bearings.

• New front console bushes.

• Track rod ends.

• Track rod inner joints.

• Radiator.

• Oil cooler.

• Timing belt at 158k miles.
