2016 Petrol 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi folks! Just looking for some sage advice from the experts. I'm looking to buy a 2016 petrol yeti 4x4. I had thought the 4x4's were all diesel, until I found this one. Can anyone tell me if these are any good, or any common problems etc? Thank you very much in advance!
Cheers!

I had a 1.8 TSi which was quick and reliable, but there have been problems with that engine as it has aged. Not heard anything bad about the 1.4 (2016) - there are / were a couple of 1.4 L&K owners on here. Should be sprightly (same 150bhp as the old 1.8) and easy to drive. Manual only.

There is a possible issue with fuel rail securing bolts for some 1.4TSIs around 2015 - 2017 - where bolts have sheared-off or loosened, resulting in fuel leaks and stoppage.

There was a fairly extensive recall for this for North American vehicles, but apparently no action was taken by DVSA over here!

Both myself and at least one other forum member have had this failure - but I definitely wouldn't rule out this engine because of it, I think it's a great one.

What engine is it?

... Er, it will be a 1.4 if it's 2016 ?

Hi folks! Sorry, I should have put the engine size in the original post. 1.4l tsi, 148 hp I believe.

Thank you very much for all your responses. Seems like it could be a safe bet then, depending on the history etc.

Many thanks!

Make sure the haldex has had its services then 👍

I had a 2105 1.4petrol 4*4 (148hp), for about 3 years and loved it! The engine is a real peach and never gave any problems and averaged around 42 mpg (actual).

I did have a problem with the clutch cylinder which I got replaced.

The only downside is the only model variant they do is the "L&K", and while this does have all the goodies, it also has the dreaded panoramic sunroof.

As you will find on this forum, there are two types of sun roof owners, those who have had a leak, and those that will have a leak. (It's basically a design / manufacturing problem).

The one I had had a small leak due to one of the drain pipes being kinked, while they had the head lining out I got them to glue all the drain pipes in place as they can become detached, but also the frame can "crack" and this allows water to run into the cabin.

While mine did not leak after the pipe was replace, I got a little paranoid and tapped up the sunroof using thin strips of clear Gorilla tape around all the joins (just incase!). VAG never acccept any responsibility for this fault so I decided I would not buy another VAG car. (This was my 3rd Skoda).

The only other thing to note is the silly prices that Yeti's are / where going for?

Good luck in your search.

Prices are nuts again. Our 67 plate is worth more as a private sale than when we bought it 2 years ago. I thought those days were over!
