Hi all, looking for some advice. I am purchasing Skoda Superb 2018 automatic 2.0tsi 220 from a non official dealer after a year and half of searching and I have found out that despite having a full service history, it has not had a DSG box oil change and it's currently approaching 69,000 miles. Should have been done at 40,000 miles. The dealer has said he can do the oil change immediately if I want. Is there anyway to know if the Gearbox would have any damage?

I really didn't want to look for a new car now as they are extremely difficult to find within my price range.

Any advice?

Only way is driving it. Checking for jerky erratic changes or over revving. I bought my one at 125,000 miles that had its first gearbox service at 110,000. I’ve done another at 129,000 to be sure. Garage said the oil was clean and the car drives fine. Might be a ticking timebomb but there’s no way of knowing. Personally I felt the risk was worth it to get the car I wanted.

Probably no damage at all and it will be fine, you can get failures on low mileage cars if they are a few years old, it's quite random. And remember you only hear about the failures and not those that have run for 200k+ miles which will be many many cars.

Get the oil changed and don't worry.
