Skoda Octavia mk.2 2.0 tdi Elegance, ENGINE & DPF light on

Featured Replies

Hello

My skoda start keeping rpm in neutral around 900 to 950, yesterday i went for ride on motorway and engine light came on then few minutes after dpf light came on. Drove for 2 hours no issuses turbo works fine also power is fine, traffic was cray so was not able keep driving in high rpm. Will only driving in high RPM help to clear out or not? Should i use dpf additive? also it is 182k miles... Today i started the car in the morning and rpm was at normal.also dpf light is gone but engine light is still on. Then after short drive went to neutral and rpm back to 900-950 should i be worried? thanks

Mine regenerates DPF without light on and is around 1000rpm at idle. If the DPF and EML light are on it could be clogged dpf but it may be a sensor thats failing and car has gone into limp mode. I would perhaps get it scanned for fault codes to see if it narrows it down.

Dpf light is long few days now but engline still on also no limp mode drives fine no shortage in power. I been told by mechanic i shoukd do few more long journeys with higher rpm and should be good

If EML light is on there will be a fault code or codes stored. I would get it scanned. It could be as simple as a bad o2/lamda sensor or maf sensor. Either one or both can cause excess soot and quickly block DPF causing multiple regens.

Exactly, you need a proper diagnosis. It may be simple, but I doubt it, the car will auto reg en during a 2 hour drive without the higher revs. If the car ticks over at the normal 800ish rpm you may be lucky.

If it’s still at 1k rpm. I personally would get a known DPF Competent shot to diagnose the issue.

Most garages either don’t have the required equipment to correctly diagnose the issue. Don’t take the “delete dpf” offer as if the garage is one of the majority it won’t help in the long term.

Someone like Baz is what you need

Thanks, will get booked to VAG specialist for diagnostics , hopefully outcome won't be nothing crazy expensive

So my engine light is not showing anymore and my rpm in neutral is back to normal, why that could be

It might have just taken a few goes to do a decent regen, and after that, taken some time to register everything is now ok.
