I am looking to improve the ride quality of my 2022 Octavia Combi SEL (2.0 TDI). I find the current set up to be harsh, particularly for rear passengers. Grateful for any thoughts or suggestions on potential options.

If the current wheels are 225/45R18 or 225/40R19, then changing to 205/60R16 should make quite an improvement to ride comfort...especially if tyres with soft and flexible sidewalls are chosen.

16" rims will clear the front brake calipers on all Octavia MK4 diesels including the most powerful 2.0TDI 200PS (FWD or 4x4) models.

I'm interested if anyone installed Koni SA on the Octavia MK4. It seems like a sportier shock, which should also offer comfier ride over sharper bumps.

@386ka Sportier and comfier are different suspension traits. Sportier might mean you can dodge potholes better.

That's true in a conventional sense. However, the special actives have more complex valving, allowing them to soak up potholes better, whilst also resisting slower frequency movement, like cornering sway, speed bumps and slow undulations.

And, in that sense, more comfortable might also mean less wallowy feel at slower speeds, which is something that I think the standard suspension is portraying.

On their site they mention it's only for multilink rear suspension, most octavias (besides "high" performance ones, generally 150 hp +) have torsion beam.

Nope, the Koni Finder has the lower powered versions of Octavia as well, and they list the rear shocks 828245-1326 for Twist Beam Axle.

When I look up that part number you seem to be right, you are getting different results than I am getting. Engines for NX5 only 2.0 is listed either way on finder.koni.com.

Not so much an upgrade but an enhancement.
Dump the OEM shocks and fit decent ones. Just replaced my rears with Bilstein B4 OEM and 034 upper mounts. Took about 3 hours to do the pair (rigid axle) and you can feel and hear the difference.
I will (or more get garage to) do the fronts at some point

How do you compare the ride quality between thr B4s and standard shocks? Would you say the swaying is reduced?

Hello, I have the same problem with my Octavia mk4 1.5tsi e-tec.
otherwise I'm very pleased with the car but the suspension drives me crazy! Very floaty when cornering and over slow undulations, but very very stiff and and harsh over sharp imperfections (potholes, manholes covers...). I have 205/55 R17 tires, so not very low profile. I tried with lower tyre pressure but no noticable difference. I replaced OEM shocks on the rear axle with Bilstein B4, but again not a noticable difference.
all VW cars on the same platform I drowe have noticable better ride quality!

I came from Ford Focus Mk4 and the susspenion was way way better even with R18 rims on focus.

Anyone found any solution or expirience same think?

Focus is best in class. You're never getting that kind of suspension on a cheap version of a VW.

I got kinda used to it 😬

Speed bumps are my nemesis, the mark 4 just crashes over them, and I find myself apologising to any passengers who have not experienced this previously.

You can tell if you drive a lot and come from a different brand the the Octavia ride quality it’s not on the top level compared to other brands or other platforms within the group!

I have a 2021 Octavia 150tdi dsg with torsion beam and also a golf8 1,5 with multi link and I can tell how day and night is the golf compared to Octavia!

My Octavia came with 205/55/17 and stock suspension up to 150k km, then I changed it to Bilstein b6 with sportline plus springs and 19 vRS 225/45/19 wheels!

The ride quality drastically change to better but you got to be careful over speed bumps!

My preview car was a 320 BMW F30 upgraded with Bilstein and eibach as well so for my was a must to upgrade the floaty suspension of the Octavia since I make 150-180 km daily!

If I will change something now will be to try a 8x18 wheels with 225/45 tyres!

How do you describe the comfort after fitting the B6? Would you say they're harsher over rough road than stock? I find the suspension floating bothering me mostly at lower speeds, and comfortable at highway speeds.

I am looking at doing it myself - however, without changing the springs as I don't want to change the ride height.
