Welcome to the forum.

Turbo seals and bearings being 'toast' are most likely reason.

Amber oil light should be telling you that engine oil level is low.

can turbo seals and bearings be repaired or is it new turbo

Beware, engine ingesting significant quantities of lubricating oil via a failing turbo can sometimes cause a diesel engine to run out of control.

Best idea would be to get it properly diagnosed - if failing turbo is the cause (very likely) fitting a rebuilt unit would be my suggestion.

What is the mileage on the Odo?

thanks. car is in garage now to be looked at. they are suggesting could be oil pump or oil pick up starving the turbo?. also suggesting failed regeneration cycle

If the turbo bearings have been starved of lubricating oil, they will almost certainly be shot.

Sump oil pickup or pump issues would also cause oil pressure problems and probable damage to engine bearings.

Are these engines known for getting blocked pick-up pipes/strainers?

I know my neighbour had an Audi TT 1.8T which had a badly blocked pick-up.

If it is likely to be an issue, I’ll drop my sump and sort it before it’s too late.

update to this issue.. was the turbo unit. £1656..... now the egt sensor is not working correctly. is this just due to the oil getting onto it with broken turbo unit. its still burning off residue oil in exhaust so once the oil is burnt off will the egt sensor start working again..

It might be that the EGT sensor has died along with the DPF if there's been a lot of oil being burnt.

no dpf lights on dash. the eml light comes on then resets with obd reader. no limp mode or loss of power. can drive it for 40 miles and eml light doesnt come on. only comes on once stop car and turn engine on/off. just dont know how long i can keep driving it until i get the cash together to replace the egt. dont want to clogg the dpf.

It's probably a taxi.

My 2020 1.5 TSI petrol does 30k a year.
