Replacing Front Grill Pre-FL - Any Tips?

Evening Briskoda brethren!

Have been reading through old threads and one thing I've noticed is that replacing the front grill appears to be a bumper off job on the pre FL Octavia.

Has anyone been able to figure out a way to replace the grill itself and/or have a guide to do it? Unfortunately my grill has a large crack along the middle.

I can only imagine how much a dealer would quote for a new bumper.
