Skoda octavia scout 4x4 engine light

Featured Replies

Hi all, just a quicky, engine light on, cylinder 1 is the issue, put new plug in, swapped coil packs but still cylinder 1 issue, not sure what to do next, petrol engine 170,000 miles, burns alot of oil, dipstick drips black as yr boot when checking it lol, had it a year, just wondering if theres any advice or whether im flogging a dead horse at this stage, any thoughts greatly appreciated

What does the error memory say?

Hello, are you getting misfires on cylinder 1?

Which TSI is it / what is the engine code?

Are there any DTCs logged?

How much is a 'lot of oil'?

Have you had a compression test done?

Yes misfiring, yes misfiring error on the computer, alot of oil would be around maybe a litre every 250/300 .miles, its 1.8, tbh ive realised that it might well be the coil pack after all, think i put the same ones back in each cylinder sorry, just switched them and now says cylinder 2 so hopefully a new coil pack will be the answer,

That is high oil usage.

Maybe check that the crankcase emissions "stuff" on top of the engine are working okay - is there a high vacuum when you remove the oil filler cap?

Wow! That's presumably a Gen2 EA888! They can have serious issues with excess oil use.

How long has it been using that much oil?

Audi's engine is a death trap... save your money and invest in something new. In 85% of cases, a complete engine overhaul is necessary.

Yeh its an unusual model! I might be overegging the amount of oil, i just know its really black when i dip it, cylinder 3 also acts up, it burns thru the plug in about 500 miles, i guess im chasing my tail but ive invested in a bosch replacement coil pack, for cylinder 1, il see how it lasts after that, as one of you says - might be better off forgetting her like an ex girlfriend ha, thanks so much for all the replies, no doubt il be back in a month with more tales of woe!
