350Z offer to swap for M5

Featured Replies

Had a chat with a guy on a petrol station forecourt last night, comparing cars and the guy said he was looking at changing his M5 (previous shape) for an open top car.

The next bit took me by suprise a bit as he offered to sawp his M5 for my Z:eek:

I dont know anything about them, nor what they're worth, but I have to say I was tempted

I've got his business card so if anyone wants to buy an M5 let me know

Well the E39 M5's can be picked up for less than £15K now.

Would depend on the age, mileage and spec.

Also they are very thirsty, and expensive to fix if something was to go wrong.

But they bloody shift!!!!

400bhp luxo-barge?! I'd have one tomorrow ;)

Chris

Thread on another site made out there were lots of problems with them.It disappointed me as I thought they were bomb proof.

I have an M5 and so would say "do it". But you need to be very careful when getting a second hand M5. They may cost the same as a Vrs, but defo not Vrs running costs.

How about you take the guys M5, but deliver your Z to me instead. I'd even stretch to making you a cup of tea/coffee/latte/irish cream coffee/smoothie/Pimms/Magners

One of my brothers has that shape M5, it's a totally awesome car, bl**dy quick and he's never had any problems with it, does very high miles too.

Parts are apparently a bit expensive, particularly brakes discs and pads but I guess you should expect that with that type of car!

I wouldn't have thought it's worth as much as the 350 though?

Given it was the previous shape M5 there is no way its worth as much. I think the guy was trying his luck, perhaps because of the high running costs that people have mentioned.

For the record, I dotn want to swap my car for an M5........ A nice low mileage Boxter S on the other hand........

You could have bought a Boxter;) .

Have you really got itchy feet??????

Not really got itchy feet, but someone has started commuting the opposite way to me in a very sexy black Boster S

I still wee myself every time I floor it and hear the exhaust though, seriously considering the Nismo cans but cant quite justify the cost to the financial controller at the moment :(

You dont need to justify the cost just tell her that the standard ones are going already. Works for me everytime :D

if I told her that my car has broken already she will kill me whilst shouting things along the lines of "I coul dhave had a bigge rhouse but you insisted you had that bloody car, its broken already, you said it would go on for ever, blah blah blah"

Surely you can get cheaper after-market silencers from Halfords? ;)

It depends on which year M5 it was. You can pick up a dog for 12k or a minter with big spec for 25-30K, so yes, it can be worth as much as a Z

I've no idea how old it was because I diddnt ask (due to lack of any real interest). The thought did cross my mind that it coul dhave bene stolen and the guy could be doing some laundry.

A personal M5 plate concealed the true age of the vehicle

Funnily enough when my brother pulled up outside the house yesterday for my sisters wedding he was in a new car- A lovely black brand spanking new M5.

What a git!!
