Power Steering Hose

Featured Replies

So I have a SKODA Fabia I Combi (6Y5) 1.2 64 hk which I´m trying my best to keep on the road. The latest issue happened when I suddenly lost power steering while driving off a motorway. When I got it home I noticed a pool of fluid under the hose where it has corroded and leaked over time. I bought a new hose from Autodoc and figured out how to remove the old one. But when as soon as I took the new one out of its packaging I noticed the banjo hose fitting was wrong. The old one has a 16mm opening while the new one has 14mm. See photo. I´ve spent the past few hours trying to find an alternative on Autodoc and other sites. I´ve been seaching other Fabia models and other car models to find a compatible product. Some products list the banjo size, most don´t, as 14mm. The OE number is given as 6Q1 423 893 but I suspect that my one has another number. Hope you guys can help. Anyone else had this issue?

There were two different systems made by different manufacturers. You need the right parts according to which system you have.

The only difference in the part numbers is the suffix letter, which is important. You have written only the base part number.

I will message you asking for your VIN, which will allow me to look up which system you have, and so which is the correct, full part number.

Just noticed on the parts diagrams that the Koyo system shows sealing washers for this part that are described as 16mm, TRW system shows ones with 14mm seals.

So your system is LHD SMI Koyo, and your expansion hose part number is part number 6Q1 423 893 M (dropped May 2023, superseded to 6Q1 423 893H).

Note for UK/RHD car owners. Part numbers for RHD systems are different to what's shown above. Third character is 2 instead of 1, and suffixes will differ too.

All UK/RHD systems are TRW as far as I know.
