I have an annoying metallic rattle which I have eventually traced to the boot catch. (This was finally confirmed by driving with the boot lid held partially open by a pillow – rattle eliminated!).   

Although the boot lid seems to close tightly on the rubbers, and there is no play evident in either the locking mechanism or the lower striker plate, there is this persistent rattle.

Has anyone else had this problem, and might this be rectified simply by adjusting the striker plate?

@Rhencullen Have you ruled out the tailgate dampers not being the cause of the rattle? Have a look at this thread for more details...
