2011 Superb VR6 Starts then dies, Fuel Issue??

Featured Replies

Hi All

My 2011 superb 3.6 is causing me major headsches. Car starts great & then immediately dies. can start it again imeediately no issue but then dies again unless I push the throttle down & get it up to around 25 - 3000 rpm but even then it runs rough & will die again if revs drop Have replaced fuel filter at rear, ensured line from filter to low pressure sensor is clear, have fuel to the in side of the fuel rail(?) . no codes come up when interrogated relating to engine control etc. Is there an easy way to test the HP fuel pump is working correctly? any other thoughts & suggestions are welcomed. Do have misfires on nearly all cylinders when I can get ot to run on high revs.

With diagnostic software like VCDS you can simply monitor the fuel pressure of the HP fuel pump. For my TSI I think it is around 40 bar during idle and low load, and can go up to 150 bar for full power. Don't know the values for a VR6.

Have the plugs and injectors been checked?

Bad misfires sound more like ignition issues to me - or timing.

Ive checked the plugs but not sure how to test the coil packs. annoying that it had been running perfectly up to this point, washed the car & then this issue appears. will start first time but only run for 5 seconds then dies. a while ago i had codes for camshaft adjuster control valves, I have bought these but not installed as the codes wnt away & car ran fine. will try to change these out this afernoon, not sure if they are removable externally or need to get to them inside the head
