Baker21's Superb Smoothed!!!

Featured Replies

I have been posting up the Superb on another forum or late, Phatdubs.co.uk and I have been getting a pretty good response so far.

The guys touched on something that I would love to do but couldn't justify spending the money on it but I would just like to gauge your opinion, is this look a good look or are you not a fan?!?!?

Is there much of a lip / bump when the bump strips are removed?

Is there much of a lip / bump when the bump strips are removed?

There is a massive whole in the bumper where the bump strips were and on the doors there are clips that have to be ground down. All in all it's a lot of work for a smoothed look but lots of other people have done this, just not too convinced myself.

All looks a little too 'beige'?!?

Sorry not sure, How about colour codeing?

I am just of the opinion that colour coding would be too 'beige' and I like the black bump strips to break up the car but if it was colouring or smoothing then I would rather spend the money on smoothing.

looks very nice as it is but smoothed it looks way nicer. i know i'd want to do it :)

I''d want to smooth it too. Any other bits that can be done at the same time? Bits of strip coming away from each side of the front numerplate too? :D

The other thing I was thnking of was getting the boot badge removed and smoothed on the rear end but I don't want to hide the fact that it's a Skoda!!

Just leave the one on the front. The back one will have 2 pins going through holes in the boot. What I did was "pu" glued 2 1p coins on to the holes from inside the boot to seal it off, then let the bodyshop do the filling and spraying. :)

Absolutely definately smooth. You have to do it, it looks hugely better!

Oh, and I'd leave the rear badge on. It looks nice and would be a bit plain and anonymous without it.

im sure someone can do a photoshop, colour coding the bumpstrips to the car, would look just as good, and same time and hassle.

It's different on the Superb, no holes, just an indent in the boot lid that would need to be filled. Very tempting but like hussein has stated it may look a little 'too' plain?!?!?!

Any voulenteers? And if so could they remove the boot badge and smooth this pic:

Looks very good to me, but I would not do it to mine, purely because I have had my paintwork saved by my knock strips before.

Smoothed does look very nice but those lower bumper badges would have to go too!

I think it looks great smoothed:thumbup:

but like you say it would cost a lot to have done,i removed the door moldings on my octavia which fortunately are just double sided on but theres still a ridge in the doors but i can't justify the money and work involved to remove this was also looking into having the bumper mouldings removed and smoothed too but unfortunately the mouldings hide the bolts that mount the bumpers on so they can't be smoothed over on the octy so in the end i just had them colour coded but in an ideal world i'd smooth them in like in your photoshop pics:D

Had a quick go removing the badge, just don't look too close:D

Smoothed, but I'd leave the badges.

Looking amazing already Baker, but I think getting the smoothing done would be the icing on the cake....

Dave H - They aren't badges mate they are LED Side Markers but I know what your saying, I would ideally have to get another set of bumpers though as the side markers would leave holes, having said that I don't think I would ever not have side markers on any of my cars.

dsmithmobile - It is all about the money and I probably won't get it done but if I should come into some money or sell a load of lamps I would splash out for sure.

Wheelnut - Good work mate, here is one that another guy has done for me:

Wardy - Thanks mate, much appreciated.

Theres loads of lovely smoothed cars on www.cleaned.be but if you do find a bit of spare cash lying around then you should definately do it :D its that site that i got the idea of smoothing the bumpers, maybe one day i'll do it if i can find another way of holding the bumper to the car:D

Hi, got bored at work and have been potatoshopping BMW's all evening, fancied a challenge, and did the back of your superb....
