Power tailgate opens randomly

Featured Replies

On a number of occasions, I have returned to the car (2018 L&K 280 estate) to find the power boot standing wide open. It has happened when parked at home, in supermarket car parks and multi-storey car parks.

At first I thought I must have accident pressed the open button on the key fob, but this is not the case.

This happen to anyone else? Last time was very annoying as it was open all night and drained the battery as the interior lights were on.

This is reported from time to time. In every case so far it was because the key fob button was pressed when the key fob was in a pocket, the owner bent down etc. It certainly happened to me more than once. The central key fob button seems to protrude a bit and is really easy to press accidentally. I now keep mine in a small leather case and since then no problem.

Are you certain that the opening was not caused by inadvertent pressing of the key fob button?
