My 2024 Scala I have noticed on the cruise control using it a lot on a 550 mile round trip that when set at 70mph it seems to hold that speed fine uphill and on flats on motorway but any downhill stretches the speed increases sometimes up to 80mph depending on the incline.

Is this normal? I don’t recall in 2 years ownership it doing this before unless I just didn’t notice it.

Yes, that's normal for standard cruise - there's not a lot of engine braking, so gravity will tend to take over on longer down-slopes.

Ok thank you that explains it, only seems to happen on the longer downhill sections.

I had another make of car that applied the brakes if necessary to keep the speed relatively constant when going downhill, and I don't think it would have been expensive to implement on the Scala, but there we go.

I agree with that I had a Golf and a Leon both which held the speed going downhill and they were both a lot older than this car.

Very likely that the older vehicles had stronger engine braking than these later ones.

That was probably some type of ACC - not standard cruise.
