1.5 TSi - engine mods - intake / exhaust etc

Featured Replies

Collect my estate this morning

Already got wheels and suspension lined up, but would like to do a few more bits to it

I have the 1.5 TSi 150bhp Manual FWD

I’m looking at a remap by a local tuner who’s very good with VAG stuff

Debating an intake, possibly the MST kit as it’s the most enclosed system

But not sure what to do about the exhaust on it

Wasn’t sure if a resonator delete would gain much sound

Or would I need a custom exhaust somewhere

I don’t mind if the exhaust tips aren’t visible

But I don’t want anything that sounds rubbish

Tried to do as much research as possible but struggling to find the info I need

Any help would be amazing! Especially with photos

i have an RPM Anti-drone Resonator Delete Pipe on mine.

mine being the FWD 220, i got the version that is for the mk3 Octavia RS.

combined with the IE downpipe, it has changed the exhaust note, but not crazy, as i still have the twin factory mufflers at the back.

i might one day change the muffler back boxes....

Be careful when on the look out for parts. Generally Skoda's, aside from the vRS models (and mostly the Octavia out of those), are a bit of an afterthought by tuners; it's more that parts made for other cars in the group are applicable as an afterthought.

Also not that although they are all called MQB chassis, that's actually split into 4:

MQB A0 - Polo/A1/Fabia

MQB A1 - T-Roc/Seat Ateca/Octavia/Karowq

MQB A2 - Skoda Kodiaq

MQB B - Skoda Superb.

Other cars in MQB-B are Passat or Arteon.

Point being: some parts fit across the ranges, others don't. Generally, engine stuff will be like for like - EA211 which is yours will be the same; but stuff dictated by chassis size won't always - exhaust comes into this. Downpipe should be fine as the connection to the turbo will be the same (but its a bu66er to change because of the routing above the subframe). But the chassis are different so you may need a custom one or potentially can cobble together bits with extensions clamped up between, bearing in mind checking exhaust hangers and other bits are in the right place.

Thanks for the reply

Probably best of going down the custom exhaust route then, to stop any issues with fitment.

I’m not sure what I want to do

Sounds ok being standard

Nice to have a quiet caR.

Pretty sure the res delete has a subtle but noticeable effect. Note what JRRS said - anti-drone res delete. There is a closed-end tube added to the delete pipe which basically helps offset motorway drone. Probably same principle as noice cancelling - bouncing sound waves to a certain length so they’re coming back and offset the sound at fixed revs. Just an absolute guess mind you.

RPM is based in Norfolk - pretty small outfit that do it all in-house. When I spoke and told him what year/engine the car was, he knew enough to ask me to look under the car and check as they had removed the res on some other models - sure enough, nothing there so I trust he has a bit of experience with the brand etc.

Thank you. I will message them and see what they say!
