Featured Replies

Thanks to a random video that popped up on my instagram feed I’ve found that the put put sound on tickover when warm is a broken ?vacuum? hose.

Any pointers as to part number for this?

To give credit, this is the original instagram post that drew me to it.

When looking at it it’s the hard plastic joiners that have cracked rather than the rubber pipe. All three had gone and almost right through. So ran the self amalgamating tape right along the section. The clips don’t quite do up but I don’t want to force them as I’ll probably replace the pipe at some point in the future. For now, the noise has gone and it seems to be sealed. Thanks @imart143 for the tips.

Put a couple of cable ties round the clip and hose. Should hold it in place forever.

Ah yes. Good call. Will do that now.

Only one clip I could cable tie round. The other one is solid and I didn’t fancy fixing to the broken part of the pipe! It’s not going anywhere as the engine cover sits right on top of here so should be all good.

Dont know what I would do without them. Reckon half my old cars held together with them.
