Behind the bit here in this photo? I'm looking for a good place to mount my carputer and this could be a decent place if theres enough space.

Also, is the cubby hole under the standard symphony stereo 1-DIN? It looks a tad smaller?

I think the cubby is a DIN sized opening.

I dunno how big you're puter is but IIRC there isn't a lot behind there.

there is very little room behind there, but there is infront of it.

i have thought in the past of removing and making a new cover to give space to mount a carputer but funds haven't allowed as yet. you would lose the coin tray by going about it this way.

also the hu slot is double din all you need to mount a dd hu is the cover strip from skoda to mount at the top.

will take a iccy next time im at the 12v wreck of what is behind there.

You are bonkers.

I think a member on here had something similar but it was mounted under the glovebox, seemed as in physically under the glovebox and attached to it too and looked like a small base unit.

If I do mine it's going under a seat or similar.

Whever I've played with Walkmans etc the electrical noise in the vicinity of the dash has screwed up the audio.

Though for an extended or USB slot loading DVD and/or a screen, the dash seems to be a good location. Once you prise everything off and take out the factory radio, there's a double-DIN sized hole with "spare" either side to make a proper flush bezel for a touchscreen, mount a slot loader and/or a cover.

Would go for below the glovebox or under the pass seat, as suggested. Don't think you'll have enough room for it where you're proposing...

Alas, I can't sacrifice the glovebox or passenger seat - I need the storage space or SWMBO will moan (she already complains that there isn't enough room in the Furby compared to my old Octy2)!

I have thought of getting an extra storage box under the drivers seat (and somebody posted helpful part numbers a while back for me) and then attaching it in this, which would lead to easier removal; http://www.soundoffaudio.com/item.cfm/id/955 (the PC will be 1DIN in size and could go in the centre console if it weren't too likely to get nicked)

Thanks for your help so far guys, and 12v if you do get a cahnce for a picture it'd be much appreciated :)

The centre armrest idea is a good one, but I dont know about ventilation there. If I stuck it down where I showed in the first picture I was going to stick a small fan either side to give some decent airflow, but I'm not sure how I'd do that with the armrest without it looking strange. Plus I dont like the carbon fibre look. I'll have a hunt for some others and see what styles they come in :)

The case I'm hoping to use measures: 177.80mm x 50.80mm x 254.00mm
