Steering wheel settings

Featured Replies

Hey,

Is it possible to alter the settings of the Fabia's steering wheel to make it 'lighter'?

Yep - just needs VAG-COM/dealer diag equipment :D Think there might be info on how to do it in the VAG-COM guide on here :D

Chris

Lighter???

Mine's too light IMHO.

Lighter???

You're obviously not running super-sticky Falkens! :D

Chris

Mil, you need a VAG-Com cable (PM me for the email of a guy who does a good deal).

Alternatively, drop by Bahrain, and I'll be happy to set up anything VAG-COM wise for you.

Plug it in and play with the following settings (I've done this and found it too light, reverted to standard - thinking about one level heavier)

POWER STEERING

[select]

[44 - Steering Assist] (from Chassis tab)

[Recode - 07]

Take note of the value which is in the form 0001x1 where x is the weight setting, eg 000121

If x is set to 1, it will be very light, if it is set to 5 it will be heavy

Replace the number with the required weight, eg 000151

[Do It!]

I think the values are different on cars older than an '03, but it follows a similar pattern :D

Just so you know (not relevant to Mil's post) the vRS is already on the hardest setting, or atleast mine was when checked with VAG-COM.

To be honest ive not seen a Fabia on a lighter setting.

i set it from 000110 like every 2.0 to 000120 like the new polo GTI . and it makes a lot of fun ,realy.

Thanks for that Basil. Do you think the dealer will be able to change this setting here?

As for hard settings, Yasser's (Fabia 156) is the hardest wheel to turn, never seen anything like it, almost like it's got no power steering compared to most cars.

lol, maybe it has a problem.

Even on the hardest setting there should be a fair bit of assistance at standstill.
