The Wee Black Oil Burning Beastie is here!

Featured Replies

Yay, finally after months of waiting, the Furby has arrived!

Only downside being that the stutter is present, and during running in is probably more noticeable due to daintyness with the throttle! Fingers crossed the for the cure being sorted officially as soon as possible!

I am scared to drive it. Feels like everyones out to get me!

Oh, and this is my first diesel... just brimmed the tank... How nasty is diesel?!?! Pleased they provide paper towels. Nozzle drips for ages!

One thing that always confuses me is that there is always diesel all over the pump handle! How does it get there?!?!:rofl:

Yeah, I know. Seems a bit random. People obviously lather themselves in it... may be its rejuvenating lol.

That looks mint!

Fantastic motor, know what you mean about driving her tho, 3 lane little roundabouts on ring road in rush hour are nailbiting:eek: Hope you have a good stock of shampoos to keep that black gleaming, you'll soon find out what I mean;) Sorry to here you have the stutter tho, believe there is a fix now looking at the threads on here?

The daintyness of the throttle is a mute point, when we got our firsty furb vRS the dealer said to nail it from the off, in 12K miles it used about 1/2 litre of oil and never missed a beat, the mpg averaged around 45 inc. mostly town driving, reading the threads on here there does seem to be a split opinion, personally I am just going to drive mine normally, try not to press pedal to carpet and keep revs below 3-3.5k but that would be normal imo certainly won't be mambieing her nor thrashing her neither, mind you 1000 miles is a very short distance - going off on hols in her tommorow:thumbup: and then brisky bbq next week.

Yeah, I'm not just fannying about with her. Using similar sort of driving style as yourself. Not taking it over 3-3.5k and not using full throttle. Going steady on the brakes too to give them the chance to bed in... and for the release agent to wear off the tyres!

Very nice! Looks just like mine except mine had body colour door handles..... just gotta wait 4 weeks to pick mine up! :o :O :P

the stutter is not a real problem anyway.

the car looks as good as mine! ; )

mine has body coloured handles too even tho it's an 06 plate. the paint is black and the handles are black :P

Well, first day with the Fab is over. Done just over 100 miles. I actually think the stutter is becoming less pronounced than when I first started driving it, but maybe I'm just driving round it. Fuel consumption is amazing so far. Admittedly I'm taking it easy, but its only just hit the first marker on the fuel gauge from full. My Focus would have used a 1/3 of a tank by now!

The HIDs have taken a bit of getting used to... wasn't 100% sure at the start of the journey home that I liked how defined the beam pattern was. Anything inside it is lit perfectly, anything outside is just dark. Theres very little splash. But by the end of the journey home (about 40 miles) I love them. Definitely pleased I went for them. Being a bit of a tart, I also really like how they light white signs up in a funky blue light!

Performance... Very very impressed. Considering I'm taking it gently it is tremendously pokey. Makes the Focus seem very dull. Not quite as good round the twistys but not as far off as I was worried it might be. And in gear acceleration is amazing! Overtaking is a breeze. Just left it in sixth, tickled the throttle and off it went. Lorrys were dispatched in no time.

Think I have already experienced people with a Skoda problem though... Don't seem to remember people trying to overtake me as much when I was in the Focus... Maybe I'm just noticing more though. Can't help being a little defensive, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

So all in all, big smiles all round. For a "budget" car, I am very impressed with it, and very happy with the choice to buy a Skoda. Just fingers crossed that nothing happens to change this impression!

Ah man, looks great! I cant wait to get my furby vRS im more excited than ever now :D

[/quote']Don't forget that from behind it looks like an 'ordinary' Fabia, not a vRS so the people trying to overtake you may not realise how much potential you've got. As an older driver, I get this a lot i.e. Fabia + old codger = slow driver. Not!

Don't kid yourself, the fuel gauge is a bit misleading as it takes ages to come off the full mark and then will move down the rest quicker than normal.

the computer read out is excellent by the way and is really good at estimating the amount of miles left. I feel quite happy leaving it to go down to 10 miles.

Also the fule warning light and beep comes on at about 75 miles left and can be worrying when it does it for the first time.

I did notice a stutter at first but it is mostly stutter free driving and it occurs once in a blue moon.

Look's really nice.

Me Jelous :(

The BLT engine (Your Engine) has a fix now, something to do with a pump according to my dealer, when i was quizzing him when i was getting bits for my banger (1.3GLi Felicia) I forget the details, but they have a fix to get rid of that minor stutter you have :D

Although, just like the engine code 'BLT' I am sure it is a tasty engine :D

Ok bad joke but couldn't resist it....lol
