lada, skoda, moskvich or...?

Featured Replies

:) None of those are Skodas...they are either Ladas or Polski-Fiat/FSO pics.

All Ladas except from the second from last link. My Grandad use to have a Lada exactly the same as the first one in Orange!

Ohhh and the van........aint got a clue......

Mostly all look like Lada's to me (I used to sell them many moons ago!)

Why do some of the pics look like they were taken in a model village?

It is a photoshop effect I have been using quite a lot recently. It makes normal sized photos look like models. There is another example pic here that I took from a bridge in Copenhagen:

There is a tutorial here that producse a similar effect:

I am going to be going back to Bulgaria for a snowboarding trip in Feb. so I will try and spot some more of these vans...

THe first ones are Lada's for sure (the lada sign is something like a sailing boat or something)

Image3 looks like a lada but seems to have skoda's lights fitted

Image 9 is a Fiat 125p

I seen such a Fiat the other day in Italy. I never knew Fiat where also making cars in such a 'standard' shape also...

image 12 is a bit confusing. i see it has the Bulgarian flag but says LT in letters, which means Lithuania (or Latvia? I get confused between these 2 countries : ( ) so I am pressuming someone is using their Photoshop skills here : )

Hi Andrew, and thanks, as you are bringing back good memories for me here as image 5,6,10,34 are same model of very early production Lada, which I had as the first ever car here.

Main problems I was having are chain tensioner componants are needing constant replacement, and bad weathering on sparking plugs in damp wet conditions, which means bad starting of the engine. Needing to put oil in to engine, as would be burnt away, low compression I think.

Good things were that all componants are easy to get to, for maintanance, which is not so normal with some modern cars now I think.

Mine of this model here, was orange, with roof with fabrik cover of light brown colouring.

Thank you as you have brought back good memories for and Mrs Soviet, and I.

Viking long ship I think here!

Good looking car isn't it.

I wonder how much a good condition one is worth

There are still a few running tourists around Prague. I think they go for pretty good prices if you can find one over here.

One recently fetched

Wow. Some amazing photos in there.

I wish i had the eye to be able to take the smallest of things, such as sitting on a bus, and turn it into a work of art!

Thats a Lada 2101 (zhiguli) i did 3000 miles across europe in one a couple of months back. including the Nurburg ring.

Very rare cars now.

There used to be Fiat 124's before Russian comunists bought the rights to build them.

wow, this is an old post - revived )

I'm still taking photos of cars, but hardly Lada's/Moscvich anymore as there are none where I currently live (Sweden). I used to go to the Baltics and Bulgaria a bit which is where I took most of those photos.

This one reminds me of 'KnightRider' > http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/403/01ladavaz2105tuningol1.jpg ?? KIT??

There is a section on the left of my webpage called 'moscvich' that contains a few more if anyone wants to see: butterpeanut - photos by andrew crighton and then click 'moscvich'.

Thanks for all the stories and comments. Always good to read.. :)

:ddddddddddddd
