Speed cameras

Featured Replies

Anybody traveling clockwise on the M25 between J15 (M4) and J16(M40). I just noticed the other day that on the overhead sign's they've started to install camera's and yes they are working as some unlucky driver got flashed.

Just be aware that they may install some more in the next few months.

I'd love to keep you all informed of any more that they put up but, i've just been told that i'm going t Afganistan for 4 months.

Happy motoring.

Thanks for the heads-up

I hope cam-spotting stands you in good stead as I guess you'll need eyes in the back of your head also very soon.

Thanks, and stay safe

OMG!! I thought you just got a

Why not just keep at or below the posted speed limit? Saves all this camera spotting ;)

There have always been cameras in the overhead gantries on the M25 between J16 (M40) and J10 (A3) on both sides, most of the boxes are dummies and only a small number are loaded, they are rumored to be digital cameras too.

Exactly where they are is anyones guess and at the moment the newly widened part (13-15) has no cameras installed but that is likely to change soon.

The gantries are useless as people speed up between them which makes things worse in peak times, a SPECS system would be much better (works pretty well through the M1 roadworks) as the traffic would stay at a constant speed throughout (roughly 2.5mph)

Incidentally, I have seen a scamera van on the bridge over the roadworks between 10 and 9 on several occasions, beware of it!

I agree, it's getting so that speeding just isn't worth it - you lose any advantage you gain at the next lights\lane hogger\roadworks\whatever.

I did London to the midlands without speeding a while back and it made 15 mins difference over a 2.5hr journey against the same journey at 85mph+. I arrived much fresher and used virtually no fuel in comparison. I also din dot have to worry about any letters from so-called 'safety partnerships'.

Next time you're speeding down the motorway/fast a-road jut notice how often you have to slow down, vs the same journey at the legal limit - speeding only makes a big difference on empty roads, and we're running out of them pretty quick :thumbdwn:

I couldnt agree more! Well said sir

Better still - avoid the rush-hour, save an hour on the trip + loads of fuel ;)

Sit in the inside lane at the same speed as the HGV's and watch the cars in the outside lane when the roads are busy, they will overtake you initially but you will go past them again every time the cars in the outside lane brake hard and bunch up.

Thats why I like to get on the M25 at 5:30am, there's hardly anyone on the damn thing.

55-60 mph = 50-60MPG

70+mph = 40-45 MPG

If you read the msg I put up you'll see that it said there is a camera between the two Junctions that i mentioned. Another point there haven't been any cameras in the overhead gantries from J12 (M3) to J16 (M40) since they widened the M25.

and i fully agree with going at 55 - 60 mph on the motorway only because for every 5mph you go over 60mph you'll burn an extra 10% of fuel.
