The article says something like: The 2nd generation Octavia has been on sale less than 3 years but already the Skoda development centre in Česaně is working on a new generation. Then I think it says it looks like todays model might only be on sale for six years.

The sketches are done by professional Czech car designer Roman Fluxa working for studio "AutoDesign & Styling" The sketches are probably based on some insider information, whilst the front of the car will incorporate elements of the new face like that found on the Roomster and the next Fabia, with a big chrome grille.

Oh, and it's expected 2010.

I think

Someone else might be able to tell us more :)

It's fairly common for development on the new model to start not long after the next one goes on sale , but it is unusual to see accurate pictures this soon.

From those sketches I'd expect the design of the very front and back including the lights to be indicative of what we'll get , but I'd be gobsmacked if the octyIII looks that sleek :D

that would come inline with the Golf VI due out

Looks like they're taking the new frontal pedestrian safety requirements on board, by curving the bumper up more, and moving the grill up. From that point of view, it could be quite accurate. But who knows - would be pleased if it did turn out even slightly resembling that though :D

the thing is for me the lights look confused its like there not to sure what direction to go at the moment "design wise" not forwards lol..... but its very "2010"

the side profile however is very very nice

I'd imagine this has something to do with the Mk V golf costing too much to produce. It probably means that the Mk II Octy also costs more than they thought to produce, so It'll get a simplification in the manufacturing process like the next golf as a cost cutting excercise.

its been said that the octy and the superb are being ditched for a one inbetween modle.... but i doubt thats true skoda might be using their own platform once again like they have with the roomster....

Remember everyone said that about the 3 door Astra, Clarkson ate his hair because of it.

Either way that Skoda is a damn good looking car.

i like where the door handles are just below the DLO (learning car design talk (window:P ))

Looks a little bit like a Volvo at the front IMO.

i find the new volvos look very simular to fords the new s80 at an angle looks like a mondeo fron a distance but everyones evolving. i dont think it looks that much like a volvo

That looks fantastic. Lets hope it looks like that when the final product hits the showroom, as said above the Astra wasnt far off its concept drawings.

Hope Skoda can come up with their own design for the wheels without ripping off the Focus ST rims:rolleyes:

they look like an evolution of the octavia/fabia vrs spider wheels...

Looks like a new Honda Civic.

body shape looks like a volvo coupe..was it the c70?

it does look very nice

Well, If all goes to plan like all other design sketches from all other manufacturers the Octy III will look NOTHING like the sketch :D:rofl:
