New VRS

Featured Replies

Hello,

New to the forum having just put down the deposit for a VRS to pick up on the 7th Sept. What should I check when I pick it up? Also does it need gentle running in as I am travlling to the south of France in it on the 9th?

Did I do good? Silver with airbag switch and CD changer...

Thanks,

Hey Nobbles - welcome to the forum. What are you doing awake at this time in the morning? :)

With my car they said you don't need to run it in but it's a good idea to take it easy for 1000 miles.

And check everything! I had no problems with my car when I picked it up but you never know!

If a dealer ever tells you it doesn't need running in then they're a liar! As a minimum the tyres and brakes need to bed in for a couple of humdred miles!

I just ordered myself one on sunday, black with leather, for colection 1st sept. Managed screw him down from

welcome to the new members with their nice new cars :) the tyres and brakes will always want some running in, gentle driving for the first few hundred miles.... but I didn't run in the engine, just drive it as normal from day one, it loosened up niceley as the first 10k went on, and has been good ever since... I've never had to top it up with oil :)

edit 0-47,000 miles in 18 months!

Handbook recommends max 3/4 of maximum revs in any gear and no full throtle for first 1000km.

I was up so early as I am working in the US at the moment. The deal I got was metallic paint, CD changer and airbag switch for 11600 GBP from a local Skoda dealer - cheaper than drivethedeal. As for running in I might have to get my dad to pick up the car before I get home and he can ease it in before I jump in it and go to France - I'll have to make sure he wears his glasses though!!!

Whats the story with the stuttering and will it affect me?

Just don't go bonkers with the revs and you'll bo ok. Missed the bit about "don't use full throttle" in the manual but no ill-effects so far.

Just ordered my black Fabster vRS... v interested in the whole "to thrash or not to thrash" debate... I always thought that the engine needed mollycoddling for at least 1000 miles...
