Snooper S6-R Neo and a Fabia

Featured Replies

Anyone with experience of installing this piece of kit into a Fabia?

Have a few questions that someone might be able to answer before I pull my car apart.... I did a search for these, but still not entirely clear to me.

1) Where did you get a live wire and ground from for the hard wire cable? I noted the fuse box, or stereo as options, but has anyone done this, and willing to share some instructions?

2) Has anyone mounted the radar detector under the bonnet or front of the Fabia? And if they have, where exactly, and how did they feed the wire back inside the car?

3) Other than the suction cup mount, or the drilling the holes in the dash option, has anyone used a damage free mount for the snooper itself? If so, where did you find it? I thought about getting one of those dashmount brackets which slots next to the dash mounted cupholders/near the stereo, for mobiles etc, but wondering if it is a little too small to hold the snooper successfully.

Any advice/experiences gratefully received!

Cheers guys

Pete

I can save you the trouble - don't!!

In all seriousness I had an S6-R when they first came out, in fact I had quite a few. The only good thing about them was the customer services, they didn't quible about sending new ones out.

Hmmmm....that sounds worrying!

What you want is a switched live. You can get it from the fuse box, headlight switch or radio to name a few.

Ground is easy - a sold bit of metal that is connected to the chassis.

I may know someone who has a certain device behind his front grille ;)

I can't find the pics at the moment, if you look below the number plate there is a nice slatted grille. Look down from the open bonnet and you'll see the crash bar, this has a convenient hole drilled centrally in the back of it which is ideal to hang a bracket off.

Velcro would probably be your best bet, as far as I remember the unit doesn't lend itself to being fitted easily.

For my money, get the Snooper on ebay and get yourself a Talex.

Cheers Stu, I was eyeing up that area beneath the number plate with the slatted grill and was aiming to place it there...now there is the question of feeding the wire back into the car.

Cheers mate for the help! I have the snooper s6-r neo, and I didn't buy it from new, was given to me.

There is a grommet that the bonnet pull goes through that I use for fitting Garage Door Openers.

You need to remove the scuttle cover and the wiper linkage and of course you'll lose some skin but it drops out nicely next to the fuse box.

Failing that you have the washer pipe grommet behind the glovebox, details in the cruise control section of my website.

Funny you should mention laser jammers - surely you mean a home-coming light device Stu :P

Unfortunately I havent got my camera on me and I keep forgetting to upload the high res pics :(

Getting some stuff done again on the 25th, if you haven't managed to sort it out by then I will take some more pics as it's likely the bumper will have to come off then.

Laser Jammers - I don't know what you are talking about.

 :P
