Seat Ibiza strut brace in Fabia vRs?

Featured Replies

Yes, I'm still waiting for my new Fabia, but already planning for some modifications. Can you tell me how the strut brace chances the handling? Does it affect the comfort? Actually I'm more a cruiser than racer so I don't want to decrease the ride comfort... Thanks everybody! =)

So if your a cruiser not a racer why bother?

No real difference to the handling although some say it sharpens up the steering a bit. More of a cosmetic mod than a performance mod imho :D

Yes, that's the point... I'm just trying to find out the benefits of strut brace, that's all. Don't want so spend about 150 euros to something I don't actually need...

Your mother wouldn't notice it on a trip to Asda.

As your push the car harder the steering feeds back and gets heavier and looser, the strut brace, increases the feed back and feel but kind of stops the steering getting heavier and it retains it's accuracy. It does improve the feel of the car and the handling for the more discerning driver. It's

Nor mine :D

I found it removed the twitchyness (for want of a better word) at 75+ cruising that the fabia suffers with, you don't get that wobble with the brace on.

There are issues with fitting the Forge one IIRC Eddy, there was a recent thread on here about it being designed on an Ibiza and not fitting the Fabia vRS.

What does a strut brace do?

The suspension geometery and the way the vehicle is driven dictate the lateral forces acting upon the strut (suspension). These forces can lead to movement which will change the suspension geometry. So just when you don't want it' date=' i.e. when you are driving hard, your vehicles handling will deteriorate because the strut towers are moving. [/quote']

So you're making a 3-sided square? If you did a bottom strut brace as well, it would make a significant difference by keeping the struts parallel, rather than just the tops of the towers :D

As they say, YMMV, and that was just based on my opnion/experience.... :D
