focus diesels?

Featured Replies

hi all,

just curious after a brisk drive home last nite there was a focus(mk1) infront of me are there any of these with a good powerful diesel engine in?

kenny

Depends what you mean by powerful... ;)

Most powerful one I know of was the 113bhp TDCI unit.

I believe in '03 they also had a 115bhp TDCI unit for their sport models :D

well either my car is the slowest thing in the world or his had been modified, im not overly sure it was a diesel, was the blue colour the st170 comes in but it wasnt an st i dont think

It's quite a lively engine, and due to the chuckability of the Focus you can carry a fair bit of speed through corners...could whack a tuning box, etc. on it though, which would probably bring similar %age gains as seen on VAG engines.

Or maybe your car is slow (probably due to the weight of the badge :P ).

Surely that should be compensated for by the lightness of his wallet ;)

could have been a TDCi Sport, they came in that colour and wheels aside look like an ST170. bluefin gets them in the region of 140Bhp and 240Ib/ft, don't know how that compares to your audi though

Plus the Focus handles really really well, so he could just throw it around corners and perhaps keep ahead of you.

It was probably the focus tdci sport, it was a limited edition run of cars painted in the sport blue colour. Had the same 1.8tdci 115ps engine in it though.

Very nice car, and the engine is very good, I've driven a work one and liked it a lot.

If I recall you don't need to chip them (as such), superchips do bluefin:

"Every vehicle leaves the factory with its performance limited, it is compromised to allow for the low grade fuel used in many parts of the world and for poor or irregular servicing. However, here in Europe we have high quality fuel, so bluefin will release the true power within and maximise your vehicle

dont worry guys my wallet is heavier than my badge ;)

my car is 190bhp fairly heavy but still around 8 to 60 and 145 top not miles away from octy vrs tbh

round the corners i was closing him tbh straights we were even, he wasnt pulling but just want safe to pass.

daft thing is he thought i was racing, i was needing back to my parents in an emergency:(

I found the 100tdci to be really laggy and quite a poor engine to drive as a result :thumbdwn:

I've driven one of works 1.8TDCi mk1 focus's... and i wasn't impressed at all, also driven a 2.0 petrol one and it's hard work getting to move with any kind of urgency. Had a brief drive in a focus mk2 1.6 LX and that was a much better... (and better all round IMO)

I was once driving being a focus and mistook the ST170 badge for the TDCi one.. that was until i overtook him and realised my error :)

has anybody ever had the privilage of removing the cylinder head from one of these things?????

cor blimey, a great big heavy cast iron slab, nearly does my back in every time.
