Cracks in the instrument panel

Featured Replies

I have a 3 month old 4X4 1.9 TDI and today I discovered some small cracks in the plastics screen in front of the instrument panel. I know that I have not pressed the plastic screen hard or in any other way harmed it. Has anyone else discovered these small cracks.

Ihope the dealer replaces this plastic screen and do not try to blame me for the damage:mad:

Hello,

Both problems you describe are worrying for a brand new car.

Could I ask you please to share your experience in using the 4x4? How you came to choose this model? I hope my request doesn't bother you.

I am a little apprehensive now that the wait for the delivery of mine began last week. This 4x4 would be my first Skoda.

Thanks,

The main reason I bought 4x4 is that I am living in Norway and has to travel a lot in my work.

I find the car nice to drive on the motorway and feel that the comfort overall is good. The only big complaint I have is the way Skoda has designed the suspension on the 4x4. As you may know the 4x4 is raised some centimeters (which is good), but the have not changed the springs and shock absorbers accordingly (they are just as one without 4x4). The result is that when driving over even the smallest speed humps (or other humps in the road) the shock absorbers is totally extended and gives a loud “bang”. I am not driving as a maniac doing this, so the result is that I have to drive very slowly to avoid this. I mentioned this to my dealer and he admitted that even they had contacted Soda to check if this was normal, and the answer was to my surprise “yes”.

My only hope is that this “bang” does not harm the suspension in any way.

I noticed some light scratching on mine, noticable when sun shining.

Thanks for sharing your experience with your car.

Please don't hesitate to continue posting your contributions.

Mines got a scratch across the top line below the time (on the maxi-dot). Noticed it on day 2 of ownership.

Decided not to take it back to the dealer. Reason: if they take the dash apart to replace the plastic it will never go back as factory fit and will regret it for the rest of my ownership.

The last thing I want is a squeeky rattling dash !

I have a few scratches on mine too, I noticed it after a few days, one of them is very obvious on a bright day.

Methinks I'll live with it for the next year and 10 months.

My Octy estate had a scratch on the instrument panel. I took it back to the dealer and they removed it somehow. The salesman said that they had polished it out. I would take the car back to the dealer and insist that they sort it out. You have paid for a new car - it should be as good as new.

In that case, mine is going back pronto, It's so annoying when the sun is at the wrong (or right?) angle.
