Auto Express test:- Altea FR TDI vs vRS

Featured Replies

Up to 100ish mph a remapped Furb would give a standard Octy a reasonable run for it's money, even in the right gear, but ONLY if not already driving at some speed.

I'd have thought a remapped turbo-petrol car will make VERY short work of most turbodiesels :)

The Mk2 Octy seems to be a lot more torqued up as well so it would probably be an even bigger difference.

Personally I just think people should enjoy their cars, depending on the variation of driver skills/level of madness on public roads/being bothered any car can 'beat' any other car.

Not saying it isn't fun trying though ;)

i know my car is slower than a 2.0 fabia but i live witht his fact and get on with my life :)

apologies if the figures are wrong :)

What I don't understand is that I can keep up with a 180bhp mk1 Octy vRS (in gear) in my 2.0 TDI 140 so why is the 170 bhp MkII vRS version of my car so much slower than the MkII Petrol vRS.

It is'nt... 30-70 though the gears means cogging it down, it's NOT a measure of in gear acceleration but overtaking ability!
