Removing Overspray

Featured Replies

I'v recently had some minor body work done on the front bumper of my car, and as a result much to my disust I'v ended up with a small amount of overspray on the bonnet. I'm going back to see the bodyshop later to day to discuss this and see if they are prepared to do anything about it, but incase things dont go the right way, what is the best way to remove this?

A claybar and a quick polish should shift fresh overspray. :)

whats a 'clay bay' and where would i get one from?

Also what is involved in doing it?

I'm hoping that after I see the body shop they will agree to do it for me as there description of work which they have charged me for included removing the front bumper so the fact there is overspray on the bonnet is un acceptable.

My other car was previously owned by the MD of a paint spraying firm, and it's covered with old overspray, so far, polish alone hasn't shifted it, not has T - cut.

I can 'pick' off the dots with a fingernail, but it will take a massive amount of time, could a clay bar be of use here as well?

Yes, the car was cheap, and had had a new turbo etc just before I got it.

A claybar removes bonded contaminents from the paint. Give Rich at polished bliss a call and ask his advice as I'm sure he'll be able to help and advise you. I'm pretty sure he has different grades of clay available and will be able to tell you the best type for your problem and your paint type (be sure to tell him that it's VAG paint if its on your fabia). If Angela answers and isn't able to help you just leave a message for him with your details. Here are their contact details;

Yep, a clay bar will probably do the trick! Again, try Rich at polished bliss or join the detailingworld forums if you dont need to shift it quickly.

Be careful with T-Cut, it'll likely remove too much clear coat if you're not careful and could cause problems.
