Ebay car buyers beware.

Spotted this thread on scoobynet, the first post is very interesting

The seller of the car bought it on ebay recently with 147K on the clock and now has it listed again. Same car, same photos and text, has just ripped the text from the original auction and changed a few details. Except now the car has lost half its mileage and now has just 72K on the clock.

The current Auction

The auction where he bought the car.

When I was looking for a Galaxy I registered on the Galaxy forums, and a member posted a link to an ebay auction of one as well. Price was too good to be true and so we quickly established it was a scam. Read the scammer bait here.

Just spotted something else. Yesterday his feedback was there for all to see and today its private. He has sold cars on ebay before, his current feedback has mostly been raised by buying small low value items of around 99p.

I don't like buying from people with private feedback - something to hide.

But is not like buying a car anywhere there are always going to be dodgy people/cars wherever you buy from. At least with Ebay you do have feedback if you bought from someone from paper say you don't get that.

My Dad got a great bargain from Ebay as the guy who was selling it was in the forces and they can buy without tax so when it came to selling he could take less than it would have cost elsewhere.

Wherever you buy from caveat Emptor!

I have bought cars from eBAY before, but tbh never got a "bargain". Never had any horrible suprises though, but I'd never bid without looking at it first.

Have a look at the bid history on the current sale.

The cancelled bid was me this morning :D

Oh , and I sent him an email saying he had been reported to the police and got this in reply "w4nker bring dem on"

It just needs a few people to bid it up to about £1000000

Right just put a £1,000,000.00 Bid on it :) Anyone wanna bid £1,000,001.00

The listing has been ended - what a shock!

Hasnt been relisted yet. Looking at the bid history, which you can still see someone bid 10,000,000.

It'll crop up on autotrader before too long I think.

People on the ebay newsgroup have been taking great pleasure in phoning this bloke at 3am and asking him about the car :D

Unless the Police take action on him first.
