Playstation 3 vs nintendo Wii

Featured Replies

It's mandatory!

In fact we may have enough for a briskoda Mario Kart session

Just about every party round at my mates house now.. once we've consumed a reasonable amount of alcohol the Gamecube is turned on, projector fired up, (wireless) pads handed out to the first 4 players and super monkey ball loaded up!

The monkey fight mini-game is soo funny.... we've spent hours beating the sense out of each other on it :D

What's wrong with the name of Nintendo's new console?? I for one am looking forward to having a Wii in my living room :D

The motion sensor in the PS3 pad is nothing like the Wii wand.. the wand has much greater scope of movement and from what i've heard it sounds like it will make games like Call of Duty (3) easier to play (for me anyway as i'm used to a keyboard and mouse)

super monkey ball rules :D

So who's going to pre-order a PS3 in the hope they get one to flog on EBay on the day of delivery ?

;)

Wii doesnt have rumble facility as Sony have now copyrighted the technology Nintendo want to use :o

Is that from your local backwards newspaper.

Immersion technologies own the patent for the rumble feature that sony and microsoft had been using. Nintendo's rumble works in a completely different way.

Immersion sued microsoft and sony for breach of patent. Microsoft bought most of immersion so still use rumble. Sony have had to remove the rumble feature because they are still being persued by immersion for royalties. Nintendo are completely unaffected.

My opinion is that if you already have a 360 then there's no point buying a ps3. Games will be roughly the same. Sony arent bringing anything we havent seen before to the table and are insistent that you sell your house to buy one. I think nintendo with it's make gaming more fun approach could be onto a winner. If it launches at the low price they have mentioned then I could see plenty of people with xbox 360's buying a wii to complement the collection, plus families buying it for the sheer excellence of it's controller and the interaction.

I really hope sony fall flat on their *** this time round. They have lost exclusivity deals with some real major franchises which will hit them. Hopefully the brand loyal sheep will be able to see through the shiney logo and buy something else, otherwise we are doomed to sitting there doing the same license tests over and over again in gran tourismo 108.

and probably make a few hundred quid on it too :o

Haddnt crossed my mind...... honest.

I can see people sitting there on day of release with 6 of these ps3's in their front room, £3000 missing from their bank account's while every game in britain has piles of unsold machines in stock.

very much doubt it though, its the next big sony console so will sell out before its released and people will buy it regardless of cost and what it comes with.

I know shocking isnt it. I cant belive that the world could be filled with so many stupid people that would blindly go out and buy this hunk of crap just because its got a sony badge.

it might not a hunk of crap but people will buy it not knowing.

on the same tack though how many people on here bought a mk2 vRS without test driving one? vauxhall dealer tried selling me a VXR without a test drive as loads of others have, idiots.

Gahh... both play and amazon dont have mariokart in stock :(

Nintendo have really done well to stay in the console market for so long, from the nes in 1983 right through to current day is a huge achievement. Every other console manufacture has failed to out last Nintendo, however I think they currently face their most difficult few years to date, if they can tap in to the market with this new controller and bring back people raised on Nintendo with the back catalogue then they'll go on to rule the market again, get it wrong and I think their final console is less than 10 years away.

The revolutions in gaming that have been brought around by them mean that even if its rubbish I'll still be buying it.

I made a mistake of buying an xbox because of Microsoft's acquisition of RARE and I sold it at the weekend for 35 quid because its a load of ****.

My new Gamecube and N64 now sit proudly next to each other under my tv.

I remember mario on the nes, tetris on the gameboy, the six button joypad and streetfighter 2 on the snes, four player goldeneye on n64.

All zelda games have been outstanding and I do miss games developed by rare.

I think nintendo made some mistakes with gamecube and lost some confidence in the market but I'm hoping they can bring it back with wii.

I for certain will be bringing my kids up on a wholesome diet of wii

the nintendo geordie ;) that has to drop a few sales wi i ;)

How are you supposed to pronounce the name of the Nintendo system?

Wi-aye - like a Geordie?

Wee - like uninating ?

wi - as in w-fi ?

its pronounced wee. wii is japanese for fun or something similar.

"Can I have a Nintendo **** please shopkeeper dude"

I think not LOL, wouldn't dream of a PS3 either as £550 for the base model [no WiFi, HD etc] is taking the Nintendo!

Besides, I already have 2 360's, a crystal xbox and a PS2 ;) That's enough consoles for one person to never play on ....
