Developed a squeak somewhere behind drivers seat

Featured Replies

My Octy has developed a squeak (not a rattle) somewhere behind the drivers seat, any ideas what this could be?

Same here.

I noticed it has something to do about how high the seat is set.

A small adjustments did stop the squeak.

Impossible to tell what it could be but isn't that what warranties are for?

I thought I had a rattle coming from the front passenger speaker area.

Turned out to be my sunglasses in the centre roof consol.

Thanks for your replies. I will have to go through what i carry in the car, if its not any of that then when it goes for its first service i will ask the dealer to investigate. I am now on nearly 11,000 miles and using variable service, anyone any idea when I can expect the service sign to come up?

Depends on hard you drive and the type of driving (town/country). more town driving or hard driving will make it come up sooner. The computer monitors instantaneous fuel consumption between services to determine when the next service is due.

Boring info:

I understand BMW did a complicated experiment a few years back using oil pressure/temp/viscosity sensors to predict service intervals and determined that there is a direct relationship to fuel consumption so thats all they measure to do it now. Well its not just that simple but its basically how they do it.

SORTED! Took time to have a close inspection of the car, turns out my husband had put back seats down and when returning car to former state hadn't clipped one of the rear seat clips in properly, so as simple as that. I thought it was us women who were supposedly unable to do this sort of thing!

I was glad it wasn't anything else because we have just come back from driving 1000 miles in Ireland, the Octy was an excellent drive and coped well with the Irish roads, I am not surprised they are so popular with the Irish, no bad Skoda car jokes over there! All our friends were very impressed we had a new Octy.

Glad you got it sorted. Just for info, I had a squeak from the passenger seat but only when my missus was sitting in the seat. After diggin her about her weight, I found that the noise was coming from the seatbelt buckle rubbing on the side if the seat. I stuck on some fluffy velcro and hey presto, no squeak. Probably only an issue with leather seats though.
