Biought a Fabia, Need a CD Player

Featured Replies

Heya,

I have recently purchased a Silver, W reg, 1.4l 16v Skoda Fabia Comfort, after putting my deposit down (private sale) I noticed that it has in fact a cassett tape/radio tuner.

I would like to upgrade thise to a Cd player but wish to pay no more than

You can fit the Symphony CD head unit from a later Fabia, some for sale on here or if you search German eBay you'll find some.

Alternatively you can install any DIN sized (Possibly even Double DIN if you remove the cubby) CD head unit.

DIN?! sorry I dont know anything about cars or cd players

If it helps, it looks exactly to this:

DIN is a standard size, ie the size of one headunit. Double DIN would be the size of two units and to fit that you'd need to remove the cubby - which isn't a problem it just pulls out.

Ok, Ill look into getting one of those cd symphany things.

So from looking at the picture i showed you it doesnt look possible I got a cd changer tucked away anywhere?

Edit: When you mean DIN and unit size, do you mean the size of the player in the slot? Just wondering as the default players look alot thicker than a after market cd player.

Cd changer normally sits under front seat.

Din size is that off a std head unit. The Fabia Headunit is slightly bigger than std din. To fit an aftermarket unit you need a blanking plate avalible from your local dealer.

As far as i know they are the same colour.

Okie,

Does anyone roughly know how much these would cost from the dealer? I am going to give them a call tommorow just if its over £100 i may not be interested.

What the head unit? Well over £100.

As has already been stated the OEM CD Changer fits under the seat nicely and the cables can be routed under the edge of the carpet. These can also be found on eBay and are common to all VAG Marques.

The Symphony HU will be a straight swap with the one you already have.

cool,

Well I have decided to go with the Kenwood Cd changer unit in the link I posted above.

The idea is I can fit it into the box underneath the passenger seat and wire it up to the radio head.

Will hiding the wireing away be simple to do, or will it involve any "modifications" to the interior; ie drilling dashboard for cable ect. ?

BTW, I have a Symphony CD player that is mint - only about 2K miles on the car. I could part with it for a suitable amount, make me an offer!

I could bring it with me last week of this month to Reading area...

Cheers

What colour is the model you have, is it in the grey or black finish?

If so I may be interested, although reading is a very long journey for me. Would there be any chance of posting?

black I think. It's at home. (The dash colour is stnd black, but I think the console is a standard dark grey/"light black) - may be wrong).

Posting would be fine.

mmmm,

By your description I think you have the other type that is for the more darker interior. Unfortunatly I need the one in the colour below, since It matches my interior,

does it look like this colour?

I would have thought it was the same as the one above, that's what colour mine is.

If its the same as the one above I am deffently interested. Just I have seen on ebay models that look alot darker in almost black.. but it might just be the lighting.

If you could get back to me tonight we can work out a price.
